Background of the Study
Simulation-based training has gained recognition in healthcare as an effective pedagogical tool for enhancing clinical skills, particularly in high-stakes environments like emergency care. In Niger State, where healthcare facilities frequently face high volumes of trauma and critical care cases, the ability of nurses to perform efficiently under pressure is paramount. Simulation-based training offers an opportunity for emergency nurses to practice and refine their skills in a controlled, risk-free environment before applying them in real-life situations.
Studies (e.g., Musa et al., 2023) have demonstrated the positive impact of simulation-based training on improving clinical competencies such as patient assessment, decision-making, and teamwork in emergency settings. However, while simulation training is common in many high-resource settings, its implementation and effectiveness in Niger State, where resources may be limited, remains underexplored. This research seeks to assess the effectiveness of simulation-based training in enhancing emergency nursing skills in Niger State, focusing on its impact on knowledge retention, confidence, and clinical performance.
Statement of the Problem
Emergency care nurses in Niger State often face challenges due to inadequate resources, high workloads, and a lack of specialized training. While traditional training methods are still prevalent, the need for more practical, hands-on approaches is increasing. Simulation-based training, which has proven effective in other regions, may offer a solution to improving emergency nursing competencies in Niger State. However, the effectiveness of simulation-based training in this context has not been adequately studied.
The gap in knowledge regarding the impact of simulation training on emergency nursing skills in Niger State highlights the need for research that can guide the development of effective training programs.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study focuses on assessing the effectiveness of simulation-based training in emergency nursing within healthcare facilities in Niger State. The study will examine factors such as skill improvement, knowledge retention, and practical performance. Limitations include the availability of simulation facilities and potential variations in the quality of training across different institutions.
